New President at Eisenhower Fellowships

John S. Wolf, former senior State Department official who served as assistant secretary of state for nonproliferation, assumed the presidency of Eisenhower Fellowships on August 16. He is the organization’s ninth president and succeeds Adrian Basora.

“I am honored and delighted to return to Philadelphia,” said Wolf, a Philadelphia native, “and to continue my public service career with emerging leaders worldwide. Eisenhower Fellowships has a history of choosing the right Fellows at the right time. Fellows regularly achieve higher positions after their fellowships and have become ambassadors, legislators, university presidents, supreme-court judges, and provincial governors. With heightened world tensions now so much a part of our lives, we can not underestimate the importance of providing opportunities to increase mutual understanding through the exchange of ideas and perspectives.”

Wolf’s overseas postings have included Malaysia, where he was U.S. ambassador, as well as Pakistan, Vietnam, Greece and Australia. He also served as President Clinton’s special adviser for Caspian Basin energy diplomacy.
