Since she began her career at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, attorney Natalia Gambaro has worked steadfastly to enhance Argentina's law enforcement and legal systems. As a newly-elected member of Congress representing Buenos Aires, Ms. Gambaro will utilize her fellowship to learn about advances in the U.S. legal system through meetings with policy makers, attorneys, judges, NGOs, law schools, law enforcement officials and youth justice programs.

Michael Voordeckers
Utilizing his background in law, politics, and management, Michael Voordeckers served as Ghent City Councilor and in other public capacities before assuming his current position at the Federation of Enterprises in Belgium. Responsible for advocating employers' interests to national and European decision-makers, he will use his fellowship to examine policy development in legal, social, economic and environmental areas, including climate change, the financial crisis, immigration, and aging. Dr. Marcos Pinoti infuses his instruction in mechanical engineering, bioengineering and biomimetics with innovation and entrepreneurship education. He co-founded the Laboratory of Applied Research in Neurovision, which develops new technologies related to neurovision and facilities the flow of innovative scientific knowledge and technologies to new companies. While on fellowship, he will gain insights into the context, challenges and regulations governing innovation, and learn about successful start-up ventures within larger corporate contexts.
Wang Zhongjing Wang Zhongjing formulates fiscal and monetary policy, oversees relevant research, and represents China in negotiations with international financial institutions. Prior to joining the Ministry of Finance, he worked for the State Administration of Taxation and subsequently received an MPA from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. While on fellowship, he will meet with key individuals and organizations in the public and private sectors to examine the latest issues relating to fiscal and monetary policy as well as sustainable economic development. As Commissioner of Cultural Affairs, and previously as head of the Protestant Research Association Institute's Science and Religion Department, Dr. Petra Bahr represents the Protestant Church of Germany to political leaders and the public. On her fellowship, Dr. Bahr will meet with religious leaders and think tanks to understand the impact of religion in American society, including the intersection of law and religion, domestic policy, science, and media, as well as faith-based initiatives, religious literacy, and interfaith organizations. With the goal of "moving children from illiteracy to e-literacy," Premchand Yadav is responsible for 226 technology centers across seven Indian states that reach over 125,000 children. In partnership with leading domestic and international companies, his work focuses on harnessing the energy of young people and providing essential skills and entrepreneurship training. While on fellowship, he will visit inner-city job development programs, organizations working to bridge the digital divide, adult education and literacy programs, and ESL programs. Valentina QussisiyaAs Director General of the Jordan River Foundation, Valentina Qussisiya focuses on a variety of issues including sustainable development, poverty alleviation, and child safety. She is responsible for a team of 230 professionals within her foundation and also engages with the public and private sectors, NGOs, international bodies, as well as members of local communities. While on fellowship, she hopes to learn from similar organizations about the methodologies used to advance sustainable development, child protection, and advocacy. Utilizing the skills and knowledge she obtained as the CEO of a major bank, Carol Wangui Musyoka now advises diverse clients in the financial sector on a variety of issues, including enterprise risk, business development, human resources, and operations. While on fellowship, she will examine the root causes of the global financial crisis, as well as the economic, regulatory and policy frameworks that Kenya can adopt to avert future crises. Hae-Eun KimA cellist since age ten, Hae-Eun Kim is currently an Assistant Professor at the Korean National University of the Arts, a founding member of several chamber music groups, and a concert soloist active on the international level. She aspires both to improve the system of music education in Korea and to establish an organization that will bring classical music to the public. She will focus her fellowship on enhancing her skills and knowledge base in order to serve as a driving force in the development of performing arts management in Korea. Dr. Soo-Hwang TeoAs CEO of the first and only nonprofit cancer research organization in Malaysia, Dr. Soo-Hwang Teo's role is to establish and implement CARIF's scientific programs and to engage with academic, clinical, governmental and nongovernmental organizations who conduct and support cancer research. While on fellowship, she will visit some of the top laboratories in the U.S., examine philanthropic and advocacy efforts, and engage with American researchers, funders, and policy-makers in order to develop a long-term cancer control plan in Malaysia.

Alejandro Alfonso Diaz
As Managing Director and CEO, Alejandro Diaz leads ABC Medical Center's efforts in operational and financial efficiency while working in partnership with its medical staff to ensure clinical excellence. Mr. Diaz will utilize his fellowship to gain insights and knowledge essential to his efforts to professionalize Health Care Services Management (HCSM) in Mexico, establish additional collaborations with U.S. hospitals, and improve the Mexican healthcare system. At the start of his career with the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Batbayar aided in Mongolia's transition from a centralized economy to a market economy. As a result of his efforts, in 2008 he received the Leading Economist Award from MongoliaÕs Minister of Finance. While on his fellowship, he would like to learn about U.S. mining policies, the involvement of federal and local governments in the mining industry, and gain insight from executives at leading mining companies. In 2007, Yewande Sadiku was voted one of "35 International Women under 35" by World Business magazine. She originates, structures, and executes debt and equity issues and mergers & acquisitions for Stanbic IBT, and has served as a key advisor to Nigeria's governmental privatization programs. Among other areas of interest, while on her fellowship she hopes to better understand how the U.S. financial sector supports the development of the American entertainment industry. Bruno Giuffra is founder of Promotick, a marketing services company focused on the development and management of incentive programs in Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia. He also hosts the weekly TV show Mundo Empresarial, writes a regular business column for SOMOS Magazine, and is a professor of entrepreneurship in CENTRUM Catolica's MBA program. His fellowship will focus on effective leadership styles, successful approaches to building loyalty and incentive programs, and entrepreneurial education in the U.S. As founder and CEO of Personnel Touch, Evgeniya Shamis consults and trains managers and owners of businesses throughout Russia to improve their effectiveness and success. She is also an expert on regional development in Russia in the areas of human capital, regional leadership potential, and innovation. While on fellowship, she hopes to learn about new technologies and explore leadership development, with a particular interest in increasing and sustaining the number of women in leadership positions. Omar Al-Mahdi has attracted and promoted over US$15 billion in investment licenses and projects in the energy sector. He oversees the development of four Economic Cities with private sector developers and various government entities, facilitating investments totaling over $100 billion with the potential of creating over 750,000 jobs. While on fellowship, he plans to investigate the dynamics and systems that lead to a nation's competitiveness. As CEO of the leading center for volunteerism and philanthropy in Singapore, Laurence Lien serves as an enabler, catalyst and public voice for the nonprofit sector. During his fellowship, he plans to study and learn from the best practices of the American nonprofit sector and forge partnerships and networks with U.S. institutions and professionals active in volunteerism and philanthropy. Dr. Harsha M. De Silva is the most visible economic commentator on Sri Lankan television and is the leading expert on developing Sri Lankan IT infrastructure. As a result of his fellowship, he hopes to bring back to Sri Lanka new ideas about the agricultural supply chain, decentralized funding of infrastructure projects, and television programming focused on political and economic issues. To carry out the mission of Tocev Education Foundation, which believes that every child has a right to an education, Ebru Uygun is responsible for fundraising, program development, and publicity. While on fellowship, she looks forward to meeting with American organizations focused on the education of underprivileged children, discussing techniques for recruiting and utilizing volunteers, and learning about public-private collaborative efforts in support of education in impoverished communities. With a background in Finance and Accounting and experience as CEO of Kingdom Financial Holdings Ltd., Mr. Onias Makamba is Group Finance Director of Meikles Africa Limited, which holds investments in supermarkets, department stores, hotels, tea estates and financial services in Zimbabwe and South Africa. While on fellowship he will examine best practices in supermarkets, department stores and hotels; property development and finance; and the latest trends in the preservation, packaging and marketing of fresh vegetables. |

Prior to her current teaching responsibilities in English and Philosophy, Dr. Li taught at the Anyang Zingfu Middle School and served as Deputy Director of the Education Bureau in Hunan Province, leading to her selection as Section Chief of a new CCPS department of teaching and education administration. As a researcher with the Global Environment Institute and deputy secretary general of the low-carbon group of the Chinese Society for Sustainable Development, Dr. Li will focus her fellowship on exploring energy policy development, new energy sources, and environmental protection initiatives, green building, and sustainable development. |
Dr. LU Qin Building on a diverse background in philosophy, aesthetics, and mass communication, and experience as a professor of British and American Literature, Dr. Lu instructs hundreds of government officials about the fields of new media and the internet annually. She will focus her fellowship on learning about future trends in internet use, including social networking, as well as regulation and legislation. |
